We’ve made some big improvements this month to make running payroll and onboarding your team even smoother. From UI enhancements to powerful payroll flexibility, here’s what’s new at Rollfi:

Differential Pay – Now Editable in the UI

What is differential pay?
Differential pay is additional compensation given to employees for working shifts outside the standard schedule, performing tasks in challenging environments, or taking on extra responsibilities. This is particularly important in industries like restaurants, staffing, and construction, where employees frequently work nights, weekends, holidays, or are assigned specialized duties. Offering differential pay helps businesses attract and retain talent for hard-to-fill shifts and recognizes the unique demands placed on team members in these sectors.

What’s new?
Differential Pay is no longer an API only feature. You can now add or edit differential pay directly from the UI.

  • Each team member marked for differential pay will see the option available in their individual payroll details.

  • This makes managing nuanced pay structures faster and easier for payroll admins.

Onboarding Progress Tracker

Onboarding just got more transparent. Employers can now track the onboarding progress of each team member:

  • Click on an employee’s name to see what steps are completed and what’s pending.

  • Gain visibility into bottlenecks and stay on top of your team’s setup process.

Deductions by Percentage

Not all deductions come with a flat dollar amount. That’s why we’ve added the option to set deductions as a percentage:

  • Simply enter the percentage when running payroll for an individual.

  • Rollfi will automatically calculate the dollar value and apply all relevant taxes.

  • This feature adds flexibility while ensuring compliance.

Issue Same-Day Checks via Supplemental Payroll

Sometimes waiting isn’t an option. With our new update, you can now generate checks with same-day pay dates through supplemental payroll:

  • Run payroll on demand and generate checks instantly.

  • Note: This applies only to checks (direct deposits remain next-day).

  • Perfect for urgent payments or special circumstances.
